Abstract

The road is a place for people to carry out transportation activities to move from one point to another. The fields of education, economy, and all other activities can be carried out by the community through the highway. The longer each year there are more vehicles passing the road, so research is needed to analyze the traffic characteristics on a road, One of the roads carried out by the study is Jalan Teuku Umar which is located in Tegal City which is located in the south of Tegal City. The purpose of this study is to determine traffic characteristics and for reference materials for those in need. This research was conducted using the Greenshields method, so that volume (Q), velocity (V) and density (D) will be calculated, by surveying directly to the field and calculating it directly. The results of the study obtained a maximum volume (Qmax) of 1831 – 2540 smp/km, a maximum speed (Vm) of 36.21 – 37.55 km/h, and a maximum density (Dj) of 97.77 – 140.3 smp/hour with a Determinant coefficient (r2) of 0.49 – 0.74.
