Red pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) is a fruit plant that is easy to grow in almost all climates. The utilization of this plant as a traditional medicine is very varied and all parts of the red pomegranate plant can be used as medicine. However, there are still few studies that test the skin of red pomegranate. For this reason, this study aims to conduct a phytochemical screening test on the skin of red pomegranate. The phytochemical screening method is used to identify the content of active chemical compounds in the plant material. The results of this phytochemical screening test can provide information about the potential bioactive compounds contained in red pomegranate peel and can be used as a basis for further research related to health benefits or industrial applications. The extraction method used in this study is cold extraction in the form of maceration with the selection of solvents, namely 70% ethanol and distilled water. Pomegranate peel extraction is carried out by maceration method, because it is a simple method and is very suitable for extracting soft or non-hard materials and materials that are not resistant or damaged by heating. The maceration method is carried out by phenolic test, flavonoid test, alkoloid test, Steroid-Terpenoid test, saponin test, tannin test. The results of phytochemical screening on red pomegranate peels that have been carried out show positive results in the test of phenolic secondary metabolites, flavonoids, alkoloids, and tannins.
