Abstract

Character education has become the main focus in the development of education that aims to form qualified and responsible individuals. One of the interesting approaches in character formation is the use of folk songs in the context of education. This study aims to explore the use of regional songs in the formation of students' character. This research uses literature studies, by examining several research results, articles, ebooks and case studies that occur in the field. Data were collected through questionnaires before and after the intervention to assess changes in the character of the learners. The results of the data analysis showed that the students involved in the intervention using regional songs showed a significant improvement in character aspects such as respect for local culture, pride in cultural identity, and the ability to cooperate in the educational environment. The practical implication of this finding is that the use of folk songs in education can be one of the effective strategies in strengthening the formation of students' character. However, this study has certain limitations such as a limited sample size and a relatively short duration of the intervention. Further research with a stronger research design and more comprehensive character measurement is recommended to deepen the understanding of the influence of regional songs in the formation of students' character.
